Wanda *ADOPTED*

Wanda is an ~ 3 year old female who came from a Kansas shelter. She is very energetic and good with other dogs. If you're interested in adopting Wanda please email Kim for an application.  Wanda has moved into a new foster home where she is getting some extra loving.  If you have any questions about Wanda please email her foster parents at jwilson571@cox.net. Wanda's new foodslaves wrote the following:

I’m a happy pooch, I awaken with my tail wagging in circles. It does other wag tricks at other times, mostly it wags just because I enjoy life.

I’m learning “City Life”, now. I’m in an older neighborhood of a good sized city. I have 2 humans and an Ageing Boxer , my “Uncle TAZ”, as mentors.

I have my quirks and foibles. I expect to keep most of them.

To that end I’ve asked my foster-humans to help write my very own

HISTORY  & Bill of Rights

I entered Rescue, after being found a rural stray. Since then, I have spent almost a Year as a Country Girl. While I’m a City Foster, now. I reserve the Right to expect every  slow moving car to be bringing new Human Friends.

Human  pedestrians were rare in my rural time. Those few were headed to my Country Home. I reserve the right to want to greet everyone. I’m being taught that some urban walkers are workers, and don’t have time for Me.  But I’ll always be an optimist about pedestrians.

Life in the Country gave me an expectation of Lots of  Outdoor time. Ergo, I have a Right to yard time, or long walks. I can be happy  leashed to you, as you chat with a neighbor; that is Outdoor Time, too.  I am very willing to be leashed, I’ll come to you when you have a leash in your hand.

While I’m not a “Sight Hound”, I like to look OUT windows.

My being a “Scent Hound”, is another reason to grant me my Outdoor time. My nose finds scents that Uncle Taz { a boxer} has to work to find. While I haven’t tried it, I think “Balcony Time” could be a delight! City breezes bring many scents, DELIGHTFUL! Even on the brutally cold days, I want to experience those scents.

While I’ve had no formal training, I try to please. I delight in human laughter. Don’t expect ME to respect a “stop command” given While you are Laughing. I have a Right to my total JOY in Human Laughter.

I’m a Basset, I’m 52 pounds. But I want some Lap Time. Someone in my Life Home must allow me in a Human Lap for some of each day. That Human’s chair will become my favorite chair, too. For now, I get to lap-nap with my foster Dad in his recliner. When he is away and I’m with just my foster Mom and Uncle Taz, I doze in that recliner.

While I have almost NO drive to be an Alpha, in my Life Pack, I do have a devious streak. If you leave an unfinished snack on an end table, or the coffee table…I may try to snatch it. If you don’t pick up your dirty socks or nylons, I’ll have my nose in them. I may carry them off, to enjoy Later.

Lastly, I’ve enjoyed and depended on my Doggy house-mates, during my time in Rescue. Uncle Taz  is the only other pooch in my current digs. He is showing me the joys of an Urban Life, and a smaller Pack. I know that I’d be happiest with at least one K9 housemate in my Life Home.
