Adoption Information Prior to adoption, all of
our Bassets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, wormed, checked for
heartworm and started on heartworm preventative. Bassets that test positive
for heartworm are treated prior to adoption. Veterinary expenses are covered
by donations, fundraising activities and adoption fees. Our adoption fee is
currently $150 to $200 depending on the age of the hound you adopt.

The primary goal
of Bassets RUs is to provide a sanctuary for "retired" and special needs
Basset Hounds that come into rescue. Another goal is to help other
rescues get their hounds adopted. So please check out other area
rescues to see if you can find your new companion. These rescues
have many great hounds that are in need of good homes (see the pictures
below). These rescues are run by wonderful, dedicated volunteers
devoted to saving Basset Hounds.
