BassetsRus Retirement Ranch, Inc.
Formerly known as Mid America Basset Rescue, Inc.
Criteria for Owner Relinquishment
Owner relinquishments will be handled on a case by case basis. As previously mentioned it is the mission of BassetsRus retirement ranch to help homeless Basset Hounds. We specifically would like to focus on older and special needs Bassets that are usually not favorable for adoption. Owner relinquishments will be given priority based on many factors. These include, but are not limited to, space available at the ranch, the needs of your Basset, the amount of funds available for medical care as well as daily costs (food, medicine, etc) and your situation.
BassetsRus can try to help you by:
*Giving Basset Hound advice (i.e. problems with training, etc)
*Directing you to a local Basset Hound rescue
*Listing your Basset on our website to help you try to place your Basset while still in your care
We will need a current picture (no larger than 250 kb), a description of your Basset's personality, likes, dislikes, etc.
*Finally, if you relinquish your Basset Hound to BassetsRus we would ask you to provide the following:
All vet records
All medication
All of the Basset's things (bedding, food, treats, toys, dog houses, kennel, crate, etc. If we cannot use the items they will be passed onto another rescue)
If your Basset is not spayed or neutered we would like a donation to pay for them to be altered
If your Basset is not vaccinated we would like you to bring them up-to-date on their vaccinations or give us a donation so that we can provide vaccinations.
Finally, we would also ask that you give a monetary donation to help defray any other medical needs (hw testing and medication, dental cleaning, medications, vaccinations, etc)
Please keep in mind it is really to the benefit of your Basset to stay with the people that he's known. If you must relinquish your Basset please let us try to help you find him a home while still in your care. The space at the ranch is very limited and most of our hounds are considered "un-adoptable" because they are seniors and special needs.
